The town has been occupied by the Germans until March 1917 and once again in 1918 before the Australian arrival. Different sites still
show scars of what has happenend in Péronne. You can discover cemeteries, reconstructed buildings, trenches, memorials and of course the exhibition in the Historial of the Great

If you have more time, you can include some other trenches close to the Somme, a French and a German cemetery and a village described
by two war poets.
